Purpose of Knowledge Article

  • To address overheating on certain Dell laptops
    • For Laptops; Series 7680s and Series 5000s
  • Always backup your data before you modify any BIOS setting

Resolution:

Start with the device powered off; power the device on and hit F2 when you see the Dell splash screen to open the BIOS

Expand the Performance Section by clicking the small plus next to the section name

Click Intel TurboBoost

Uncheck the box next to 'Enable Intel TurboBoost'

Click Apply

Click OK on the dialogue box


Note: the box for 'Save as Custom User Settings?' can be left as is

Click Exit
