To address audio related issues on a Dell machine:

  • Use this article to troubleshoot Audio Drivers on your device
  • For Windows 10 devices

What are Drivers?

  • Drivers are the software interface between the hardware (as it pertains to this article, your audio devices) and your Operating System. Without the proper drivers, devices may not function as intended. 
  • Devices come with a default package of drivers that need to be updated for full functionality and compatibility
  • Dell and other manufacturers periodically release new drivers that are installed automatically via Windows Update
  • In some cases, drivers require a manual update to correct a bug that is causing a system error



Updating Drivers

Method 1 - Dell Command Update:

Launch Dell Command Update by searching for the app using the Windows search bar

Click ‘Check for Updates’ to find valid updates and Install any updates available

Perform a system restart to finalize installation

Locate your Dell Service Tag

Navigate to Dell Support on a web browser and Enter the service tag into the ‘Identify Your Product’ field and search

Download and install the most recent Realtek Audio Driver

Restart your device to finalize the installation
