Purpose of Knowledge Article:

Guide to updating or resetting Berkeley Lab Identity account password. This is the same password for your LBNL account, email, VPN, LETS, and all other LBNL web services systems.

  • Before you change your Berkeley Lab Identity account password, make sure to do the MFA bypass first so you can log back into your Google Authenticator app after

1Go to the website https://password.lbl.gov

Select "I forgot my password or it expired, so I need a reset code."

Note

For expired passwords, this will only work if within 10 days of expiration. If past 10 days, call 510-486-4357 or chat (to start chatting, click on the icon in the bottom right of this page).

3Confirm that you are not a robot and click Begin

4Enter your Berkeley Lab username and click Next

6You will receive a reset code on the contact method you selected previously. Type in your Berkeley Lab username and the reset code

7Create a brand new password with at least 14 characters that you have not used with the Lab before and click Save.
