The handshake procedure is the last step of the floor operators key-enable procedures that completes all administrative controls to allow a beamline to take light.

In general it is performed by a beamline staff.

In rare occasions, after a storage ring beam loss, it is possible that some of the valves or shutters of the beamline do not open automatically. You will see that by red valves or shutters in the EPS screen, that you cannot open or close yourself (right-click on the icons starting from most downstream to most upstream and select 'open'). If this is the case do the following:

  • call the floor operators and request a handshake for beamline 12.2.2
  • Go to the EPS Screen (if you are not already there) and request an open for every red item.
  • Wait until the floor operator completed the handshake and the icons turn green. This can take several minutes, depending how busy the floor operators are and how far they have to walk to get to the 1222 control panel (in the walkway to beamline 12.3.2)
