When an employee terminates and has “Find My iPhone/iPad” activated on the iPhone or iPad, the device must be unlocked and reactivated.

For LBNL Owned iPhones/iPads with Cell Service Before Employee Leaves:

  • Telephone Services/IT must be contacted before employee terminates

  • Telephone Services/IT will request and confirm that the user turned off “Find My iPhone” and the Passcode Lock

  • Telephone Services/IT will reset the iPhone/iPad back to factory default to be repurposed in the current division/dept that originally purchased the device

For LBNL Owned iPhones/iPads After Employee Leaves:

  • A factory reset will clear the Passcode Lock only, but the iPad cannot be reactivated without going through Apple’s reactivation procedure

  • Obtain the serial number of the iPad either from the back of the iPad or through ams.lbl.gov and obtain the PO number for search in brslite

  • Contact Apple Enterprise Support 866-752-7753 and request a release of “Find My iPhone” for the iPhone/iPad providing the serial number. This generated a case number.

  • Obtain a screen shot from brslite of the full PO details of the iPad purchase and save in PDF format. This will act as the proof of purchase.

  • Apple will then send an email form (see below) to be filled out and submitted to [email protected] with proof of purchase.

  • Submit the form and the proof of purchase:
