Guidance for Energy and Environmental Studies

As research on energy conservation turns more and more to studying how humans use energy and energy-saving devices, federally and state mandated protection of the rights and welfare of human subjects apply. See here for the Department of Energy's instructions on this.

When the Human Subjects Committee is reviewing a protocol which involves the use of an environmental device/sensor, often the Committee has very specific questions about the device that need to be addressed. Below are sample device/sensor summaries that have been found acceptable by the Human Subjects Committee.

1) List of brands and specifications for common sampling devices

2) List of sensors by measured parameters

3) Passive Sampling Equipment List
