Purpose of Knowledge Article:

Address issue where headphones are not working on Dell Laptop with Windows 10 related to the Intel Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio causing headphones to not work and audio to fail completely when a USB audio device is plugged in.

Resolution:

1	Right-click on the Start Menu and select Device Manager
2	Expand Sound, video and game controllers
3	Find and right-click on Intel Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio and select Update Driver
4	Click Browse my computer for drivers
5	Click Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
6	Select the oldest driver available on the list and click Next
7	Click Yes
8	Click Close
