Purpose of Knowledge Article
- To address overheating on certain Dell laptops
- For Laptops; Series 7680s and Series 5000s
- Always backup your data before you modify any BIOS setting

Resolution:
1 | Start with the device powered off; power the device on and hit F2 when you see the Dell splash screen to open the BIOS | |
2 | Expand the Performance Section by clicking the small plus next to the section name | |
3 | Click Intel TurboBoost | |
4 | Uncheck the box next to 'Enable Intel TurboBoost' | |
5 | Click Apply | |
6 | Click OK on the dialogue box Note: the box for 'Save as Custom User Settings?' can be left as is | |
7 | Click Exit |
