BRIEF

Policy Summary

Berkeley Lab's Traffic and Transportation Policy ensures that vehicles are operated in accordance with city, state, federal, and University of California regulations while on the Laboratory site by:

  • Outlining vehicle speed limits, seat belt usage requirements, and accident reporting protocols
  • Mandating that all holders of Commercial Drivers Licenses participate in Department of Transportation drug and alcohol screening
  • Dictating where motor vehicles and bicycles can be operated and parked
  • Describing pedestrian right-of-way and paths
  • Imposing limits on who at Berkeley Lab can transport radioactive and hazardous materials
