Purpose of Knowledge Article
- Provide a guide to address software functions that stopped working, became inaccessible, or state a trial version and needs to be activated
Resolution
Chances are that the software is a subscription license. Some examples of such software are:
- Microsoft Office 365
- Adobe software (Acrobat included)
- Smartsheet
- Lucidchart
- and more
Try the following:
Confirm you have a valid subscription for that software at https://software.lbl.gov/ under the "Purchase History" section. If you do not, you will need to get one
When you request a new software subscription or renew a software subscription. It needs to be approved by your approver (usually your supervisor) then the Software & License team will get you set up with the license.
Emailing the Berkeley Lab IT team will not help speed up the process.
- Make sure you are signed in with your LBL account for the software
- Always try to restart the computer
Still having issues:
- If you have the above fixed and continue to have issues. Send an email to [email protected] and include:
- Screenshot of all the error messages
- Software name and version
- DOE number of the computer
- Your LBNL username
- Your LBNL employee ID Number
Tips:
You can check your software subscriptions under the "Purchase History" section at https://software.lbl.gov/
All software subscription licenses are annual base. Email reminders are sent out prior to the subscription ending. Be sure to take action when you see that email to prevent interruption in your work
