Purpose of Knowledge Article
Provide a workaround for an issue when Browser Gives an "Update Your browser" Message When Opening A Link To A Google Drive Within A Microsoft File (Excel, Powerpoint & Word) on Windows systems.
Resolution
Right-click on the Start menu button | ||||||||||
Click Run | ||||||||||
Type in regedit | ||||||||||
Click OK | ||||||||||
In the Registry Editor, browse to the following location based on the bit version of Office and Windows you have Note: Create the keys if they do not exist |

Make sure the Internet subkey is selected | ||||||||||
Select Edit on the menu bar at the top | ||||||||||
Select New | ||||||||||
Select DWORD Value | ||||||||||
You will see a New Value #1 appear, rename it to ForceShellExecute | ||||||||||
Double-click on ForceShellExecute | ||||||||||
Change the Value Data field from 0 to 1 | ||||||||||
Click OK | ||||||||||
Exit the Registry Editor | ||||||||||
Save your work and exit all the software and restart the computer |
