Changing Energy:

Type the desired energy in eV (not keV) into the white field under "Set Energy" and press move.

Tuning beam

Note 1: The system only lets you to change energy and tune beam, if you have beam at the appropriate X-ray probe: "I Mono Out" for change energy and tune rocking curve, "I1" for Tune M2 and Tune Chi2

Note 2: Make sure 'BCS - Autoscale Beamline Amplifiers' is on, before starting the tuning routines.

This involves 3 parts: Rocking curve, M2 tilt (vertical beam position) and Chi2 (horizontal beam position).

  • Rocking curve: Press "Tune R.C." to initiate the tuning of the rocking curve. This can be done with hutch door open or closed, the probe is outside the hutch. Once the tuning is complete, the Tune R.C. button is active (not greyed out) again. After R.C. tuning is complete, the system queries whether or not to automatically proceed with M2 tilt and Chi2 tuning.
  • M2 tilt: This probes at I1, that means the hutch needs to be interlocked and both shutters need to be open. Press "Tune M2" to initiate tuning.Once the tuning is complete, the Tune M2. button is active (not greyed out) again. Once the tuning of the M2 tilt is complete, the system queries whether to proceed with tuning Chi2.
  • Chi2: This probes at I1, that means the hutch needs to be interlocked and both shutters need to be open. Press "Tune Chi2" to initiate tuning.Once the tuning is complete, the Tune Chi2 button is active (not greyed out) again. Once the tuning is complete, the system queries whether to switch on 'Maintain Position'. If you select 'yes', the FastShutter will be closed and the reference beam position will be recorded. You need to open the FastShutter manually again.

"Tune all" tunes both M2 and Chi2 back to back.  Once the tuning is complete, the system queries whether to switch on 'Maintain Position'. If you select 'yes', the FastShutter will be closed and the reference beam position will be recorded. You need to open the FastShutter manually again.
