Take a powder diffraction pattern of your calibrant
We have CeO2 or LaB6 mounted in a dummy gasket hole. You find them mounted on a magnetic base attached to the hutch-wall inside the hutch.

Choose your preferred calibrant and mount it on the stage.
Align the dummy gasket with the calibrant onto the X-ray beam.
Take an exposure (usually 30 - 60 secs suffice)
