2018-02-14 - Data science check in meeting notes

• Group agreed to give presentation with update at next all hands. Content of this will be the class scheduled so far and upcoming, with a brief update on the knowledge base.
• Kecia and Michael won't be here for next all hands. Leaves Simona and Bill to give presentation at next all hands.
• Agreed a short 5 minute presentation to give a brief update.
• Agreed to give an informatics all hands about the knowledge base and training courses once the knowledge base is going. Kecia would like to do this in April.

• Possibly rotate chairperson role every 6 months, March 2018 - Sept 2018.
• Responsible for organising check in meetings and the reviewing overall goals and priorities for the project.

• Met with Leila, plugins and pages put in.
• Prototype now available at https://intranet.lbl.gov/jgitechanswers/
• Forums now available at https://intranet.lbl.gov/jgitechanswers/forums/
• This is an initial outline so we can see what it looks like.
• Still depend on Leila for adding plugins and global structure.
• Jon and the rest of us can add sections, headers and content for the site.
• Next steps are to start adding content.

Intranet content

• some content will go on the forums.
• PDFs and word documents can go on the forums.
• The resource pages link to the documents and wikis
• The forums will be a Q&A page that can be starting page for discussion
• Global search that does allow all forums to be searched for content

• Add content for training courses on Intranet
• Dan will record Wyatt's content using zoom.
• Video will go on youtube as a private channel - can only access the video if you have content
• Video link will go on the events page on the knowledge base
• Still to determine how to structure the content from the training courses
• Send a follow up survey after the course to see feedback.
• Tentatively will store notebooks on github
• Dan has received emails about people who don't have access to the jupyter notebooks because their accounts are inactive. These are being resolved and they should have access.
• Bill tried azure notebooks, but wasn't able to upload his own notebook.
• Could possibly try using binder for notebook hosting too.
