Introduction

IT is piloting the implementation of Chromebooks, Chromeboxes, and Chromebits in the Berkeley Lab computing environment. As a part of that implementation the tracking and management of these devices is handled by our management tools in the Google domain. Enrolling your device enables us to track and inventory the asset, provide service and wipe remotely if needed. To manage a Chrome device in your domain, you must enroll it before any user signs in to it. If a user signs in before you enroll the device, you must powerwash or wipe the device to restart enrollment and manage the device in your domain.  If you already see "Managed by lbl.gov" on the login screen, you do not need to complete this process again.

Getting Started

1) Start up the Chrome device, you will the Welcome! screen, select your Language, Keyboard Layout and Network.

2) Connect to a lbnl-visitor wireless network (or wired Ethernet) and select Continue:

3) Accept the terms and agreements, leave automatic crash reports checked and select Accept and continue:

4)  Warning: Do not enter your credentials yet.  Select Ctrl+Alt+E to bring up the Enterprise Enrollment screen. If you do not see the Enterprise Enrollment screen, follow directions to powerwash or wipe the system and try again.

5) Once you see the Enterprise Enrollment screen, enter your full e-mail address then your Berkeley Lab Identity (LDAP) password on the next two screens while selecting Next:

6) Enter the DOE Number under Asset Identifier and provide the end users primary location under Device Location then select Next.

7) Select Done and the Enterprise Enrollment is complete.

8) You will now see the Sign in to your Chromebook page (Managed by lbl.gov).  You can now have the end user sign into the device, or shutdown and place the enrolled device back into inventory.
