Important: Google recently implemented an identity verification requirement for actions it deems sensitive
Examples of sensitive actions:
- Downloading data
- Creating or modifying Gmail filters
- Adding a forwarding address in Gmail
- Enabling IMAP access in Gmail
- Adding a Gmail delegate
Ways to verify your identity:
- A device linked to the recovery phone number of your account
- A device that's signed in to your Google Account
Important: To protect your account and data, Google may not allow you to complete a sensitive action for 7 days. This happens if Google can’t verify your identity.
- In the 7-day period: You can still use and access your account, but you won’t be allowed to update any sensitive information or complete sensitive actions unless you verify it’s you.
- After the 7-day period, you can access the relevant sensitive action even without the verification.
