The Office of the Coordinator for Cuban Affairs at State recently reviewed its TDY policy and has decided to curtail all USG TDY travel to Cuba due to security reasons related to the acoustic incidents. Travel to Cuba is approved on a case-by-case basis if it falls under one of the following three categories:
- National security
- Related to ongoing investigations
- Supports critical embassy operations
Any trips to attend a conference will not be approved. If travel meets the criteria above, costs related to travel must not be committed until approval from DOE and the U.S. Department of State is granted. Travelers will not be reimbursed for an expenses committed prior to receiving approval.
