Applied Nuclear Physics

Program Head: Kai Vetter

Applied Nuclear Physics is a collaboration amongst scientists and students at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory headed by Kai Vetter, with the goal of advancing the field of radiation detection. The work of ANP spans a range of applications including homeland security, safeguards, medical imaging, as well as Astrophysics. Our efforts through the ANP program are joined with the Berkeley Applied Research on the Imaging of Neutrons and Gamma-Rays (BeARING) group at the University of California, Berkeley. Together we are working on various projects, with financial support from the Nuclear Science and Security Consortium, the Department of Energy, the Domestic Nuclear Detections Office, the National Science Foundation, and the Academic Research Initiative.
