Microsoft recently reported Windows Updates have been causing BSOD on numbers of Windows 10 computers. The related updates are: KB5000802, KB5000808, KB5000809, and KB5000822 and are related to Kyocera and Ricoh printing drivers.

The BSOD looks like this:

Observe the bottom of the BSOD and make sure you see the following:

  • Stop code: APC_INDEX_MISMATCH

  • What failed: win32kfull.sys


Microsoft has released a procedure to fix this issue:

  1. Restart the computer and log back in

    1. To restart the computer from a BSOD, just power off the computer and power it back on again using the power button

  2. Do not start using the computer right away

  3. Run Windows Update (here is a guide on how to run Windows Update)

  4. Do not use the computer during this time

  5. Restart the computer when prompted by Windows Update and the issue should be resolved
