All Berkeley Lab employees are expected to abide by US Laws regarding copyright and intellectual property, as well as the norms of academic integrity which support recognition and citation of the work and contributions of others.

Some things you can't do...

While "fair use" is a somewhat gray area, most experts believe you can't:

  1. Scan an entire book and make it available to everyone at the Laboratory or the world via your website (unless you have permission from the copyright owner).
  2. Share (for example via Peer to Peer networks) music, movies, software, or other intellectual property which you don't own the rights to or have permission from the copyright owner to share.
