Planning your arrival on Sept 8
We recommend that you plan your travel in order to arrive at the Asilomar Conference Center by 5:00 pm on Sunday, September 8. The first meal of the conference is Sunday dinner, with service beginning at 6:00 pm and ending at 7:00pm.
If you arrive by car, you will be able to drive to the Hearst Social Hall, where the front desk is located. Limited, short-term parking is available next to the Hall. Other parking lots are located throughout the grounds and can be used during the week.
Maps of the Monterey area, helpful to those arriving by car, are available on the Asilomar web site.
Check-in time is at 4:00pm. You room may be available before that time, but if not, you will be able to leave luggage at the Social Hall until your room is ready. The Hall has wireless.
There are tentative plans to host a school for advanced graduate students and beginning postdoctoral researchers immediately preceding the conference (pending positive funding decisions). If the school takes place, the final event in the school will be a poster session that will begin following dinner. Please consider attending, as this will be a wonderful opportunity for the students to converse with underground scientists from around the world.
